SHARE REPORT.

Messrs Williamson & Co, Sharebrokers, report as follows:—Business in the Share market during the month lias been somewhat animated, confined however for the most part to local stocks. Bank, Gas, Manawatu Railway's, Gear Meat, Woollen, and Drug Go.'s have all changed hands pretty freely, but those mostly preferred, and scarcest, were flourishing financial companies although carrying heavy premiums. N.Z. -Loan and Mercantilo's, Wellington Trust and Loan's, Wellington Equitable and Investment Co.'s, N.Z. Land Mortgage, and National Mortgage Agency shares—all were wanted everywhere. Although at this period of the year a good many dividends mature, naturally hardening values, still the present and prospective cheapness of money will unquestionably continue to strengthen stocks all round. Investors may therefore expect to pay yet higher rates for the best class of securities and stocks. Banks.—New Zealand and Colonial Banks are in considerable request—sellers not nuini :cus; Nationals are still pressed at 10s discount, but purchasers are few. Insurance.—Enquiry has commenced for Colonials, the existing discount, and nearly two years due dividends, incite speculation ; Btocks generally are much below the prices of two and three years ago, and many circumstances indicate a strong reaction at no distant day. Gas.—At no previous period have gas shares generally been looked on so favorably. So far as this locality is concerned it may be safely asserted the electric light scare, formerly so much feared, has disappeared. .. Wellington investors, unable to purchase local stocks, have been forced into other markets, and large lines in outside Gas Companies have been lately effected. ' Locai Indosimbs.—Kaiappi Woollens command a rising premium, consequent on .approaching dividend, ,„.Mosgiols remain about 12s'. 61 premium,' but are' seldom procurable. N.Z,.Drug Company's are wanted in large parcels, but sellers decline present quotations. , .. ,
