IN A COAL PIT.
An accident occurred'in a coalpit by M which several lives wore lost. Two boys H managed to get hold of a chain hanging a by the sido of a pit, and so had the pros- | poet of being saved if .'they could hold on 1 till help came. As soon'as "possible a I man was sent down with'.a orpe to see if 1 there wore any alive who might be drawn up. In going down, he camo first to a ' boyuamed Daniel'-Hardin?. When ho offered to help him,, the noble-minded boy said, " Don't mind me; I can hold ' on a little longer; but Joo Brown there is nearly exhausted. Save him.first." / Joe Brown was Baved, and so was tho noble-hearted boy who saved him. .-'•
