ALFREDTON ROAD BOARD.

A meeting of this Board was held on Saturday the 7th inst, Present—Messrs Macquarie (Chairman), Saunders, Napier, and Jones.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

CORRESPONDENCE. ' Inwards,—From Property Tax Com- ,■•.•<. missioner with schedule of Crown Lands' in the district, and enclosing form for making demand for rates. The Clerk was instructed to get tho necessary resolutions from the Masterton Road Board, and thereafter make the formal demand to Government for tho amount of rates due.

From Commissioner of Crown with list of Crown Lands sold in the district for year 1883 and 1884. Mk From same, re deferred pfficnt monies, and Btating that the Boawrs request would bo submitted to tho first ..;:<■ meeting of the Waste Landß Board. ... ■

From Masterton Board stating that the agreemont for adjustment of accounts had not yot been sighed by the County Chairman,

The County Council's resolution re main roads and County.liabilities, eon-, federation of which had been postponed at last meeting was taken up, when after some discussion it was unanimously resolved, That this Board is not prepared to take over the maintenance of the main road at present, and that'sofar-aa the County liability of £I6OO is concerned the Board is of opinion that it ought tqie cleared off-by a special County rate without delay,' ■'''••'' It was resolved that tho services Qf tho County Enginoer. be requested fqr the, purpose qf laying off those sections of tjje ' bush in tho Alfredton-Eketahuna road That it would bo advisablo to have it feMj< for the good of the road, also the servicer of the Engineer to locate about 12 chains of road, leading from the main rogi to the Tiraumea river near Mr Safi&rs homestead.
