CORRESPONDENCE.

THE ADAMS CASE, To ihe Editor, Sir,—Allow me a small space in your valuable paper to say that I think some of the lawyers are in the habit of jumping at their own shadows. It is a pity they are allowed to address people in the manlier in which they do. Ido not think I have any need to trouble myself about what was said, I truly believe that tho people of Masterton who know me will bear me out'jn saying that it was not my place to make myself a spy' to' follow my sisters wherever they went, lam sure if I did people would have a very poor opinion of them. They would have said my sisters were not fit to bo trusted. Now, on tho evening drawn to your notice it was said I was like a Spanish husband toleavemy sister withMr Price alone. I trusted him as a man should be trusted if he had any respect for himself. For myself I shall always expect to be trusted, I can safely say, that there is no young lady that I have been in company with can accuso me of ever saying a bad word or attempting to put my hands on her wrongfully. I feel that is every man's (}uty if he wishes to hold respect. The shop was not exactly closed when I left, and I expected a§ my sister was getting letters addressed from Dunediii tq'the shop that was what she was detained for, It is a pity tho lawyers do not take Mr Bunny's example and address people as a gentleman should. I am, &c., Henry Dixon Adams,
