Colonel Richardson, commandant of the New South Wales forces, will take command of the local contingent for the Soudan, and Lieutenant-Colonel Roborts remains in charge here, The troops will embark on the 3rd proximo for the Soudan. Melbourne, February 10. The Cabinet meet to-morrow to consider the question of offering Victorian troops for service in the Soudan. London, February 16. The announcement of the Observer, that the Imperial Government has accepted the services of the New South Wales troops in Egypt, is officially confirmed. Lord Wolseley telegraphs that an eye witness states that the rebels entored Khartoum on 26th January, and that General Gordon wbb killed by a yolfey from the invading troops while going to the Austrian Consulate.
Cairo, February 16. In compliance with the request of Lord Wolseley, Prince Hassan, brother of the Khedive, has been appointed Governor of the Soudan, and he proceeds forthwith to Korti, whero he will assume command of tho Egyptian troops,
