BLOWING UP -THE HOUSE OF COMMONS AND TOWER OF LONDON.
London, January 24. ' •Intense-, excitement has ■ been- oaused hes by a daring and well-planned attempt Ijo damage tho house of Parliament and the Tower of by, dynamite explosions.' . - 'v .. .Early this afternoon the first.explosion "occured,. the dynamite having been lodged in the fii-st .crypt undei-Westminster Hall? The'windows of the haliwero smashed by the concussion, and a large hole was made in the floor,' two policemen- and'% visitor who were present being seriously injured. A few minutes later a second explosion occurred, ' the spot being under the strangers' gallery iri the House of Commons, The western end of the Chamber was completely wreaked by the force of the explosive,
One-person, who is suspected of having caused the explosion, was arrested on. the spot, ■ A third explosion occurred about tho same time, the scene being at the White Tower of the Tower of London. Numerousviaitors were present at the time, and four persons were soverly injured." Windows in the neighbourhood were broken, and the buildings sustained considerable damage.
