.Intelligence of a distressing.-occurence to "a Flititaliiro family named Davis, who ■' recently emigrated to Tennessee, haa - .(says a-home paper) just reached'their re- : ■latives at Home, Mrs Davies was called •> the dopi; at night, when she was ehot dead. Mr Jones, a wejthy Welsh emi< - grant farmer, who; was there on a visit, . looked .oiijb';to see what wp the matter, • when he fell down dead riddled with shot. ' Mr Davies, husband of the murdered woman, returned home to find his wife» corpse, and Jones lying also. The country was scoured, and from suspicion the post- ' mastor of Alpine, a man named Dorsey. aged 70, and a woman named Wade, aged 60, were arrested. • Evidence was produced that Dorsey killed Mrs Davis from personal jealQusy-j-snd shot Jones in mistake for;Mr .I!aviSs;. The infuriated mob then < "rushe'd" the gaol and hanged both DorBey and Wade-ftom a tree.
