FEATHERSTON ROAD BOARD.
This Board met at the Road Board Office on Saturday last. PresentMessrs J. Donald (Chairmen) J.. Tully : A. Matthews, H. Dudding; W-. E.Bidwell; W, Smith, D; McDougall, 0, Harris The Treasurer reported a credit' balance of £21617s sd.
Messrs J. Donald and.D. -McDougall were appointed to sign cheques. Accounts tq the amount qf £IJ4 7s 7d were passed for payment, ( A letter was read from R, Kelly objecting to the road passing through his section No, 1, Featheraton Block.
Tenders were received for—(1). Forming road through the bußh atßattersca, 105 chains, • Jas Haggerty and Co., £2 4b Gd; Alex. Dick, £2 3s Gd, accepted. (2); Formation of fourteen chainß lower endof swamp, WmVPoworj Od per cubit yard, accepfcod. .As only one tender: was received for consideration-was adjourned, _ • ■ The Mowing is the Ranger's ropbrt : Trespass fooß for month, £1 Bs. •■ Poundage fees, Waihenga, £l'l9s 3d.'' Poun-' dage fees, Fcatherston, £lßs. Total, £4 IBs 3d." -
Mr Matthews having pointed out that the creek, was damaging the approaches of the cemetery bridge, the clerk was instructed to write to Mr. J; T. Hodder reqUoßting him to remove the flood gates placodabovethe bridge. The clerk was instructed to'write'to Mr Bedtham and ask if he would be willing to dispose of a small corner of his paddock at the Camp, to enable the Board to improve the corner of the road, as several accidents had already occurred at this point. Mr'Dudding proposed to clear slips off the roads, Mr Donald proposed to put Borne more metal on Yule's line and clear drain on Murphy's line. Mr E. Bidwill proposed to get another contract fpr metal on Kahautara road, Mr Smith applied for the engineer to examine and report on the roadatOtaraia and leading to Harris' and prepare specifications, " As soon as the survey of the road to Grapy Hill was complete the engineer to prepare plans for oarrying on. the work,—Carried,. The Clerk was instructed to write to Messrs Beard and Gray and instruct them to proceed against E, H. Buckeridge to recover the rent due for the Tollgate reserve,
A special meofcing was then.held, when the Board resolved that a special rate of 3d in the pound be levied on the;Moroa special rate district, to oraise the necessary, funds to pay the loan of £950 granted. bythe Minister of Public Works under the.
