Better weather for the second day of the meeting cotild not be imagined, The sky was overcast, with a nice cool breeze, and at an early hour visitors from every part of the district began to arrive in the town. Prom eleven o'clock to one tho road to the course was thronged with vehicles of every imaginable description, and before the first' race started the attendance was even greater than on the first day. There were all the features of a race meeting.in the way of games, shooting the owners of which appeared to do good business. The booths too were kept going at a great rate, and the proprietors had every reason to be satisfied with their bargains. The lessee of the gates did well—as he deserved to—and the gentleman with the "'krect card" looked blooming and happy. The police again bad a comparatively easy time of it. Though there were many "cjueer"
before the day was out, quarrelsome " drunks" were conspicuous by their absence, and the gentlemen on duty had little difficulty in preserving order. Mr Pearson's Brass, Band was in attendance and discoursed sweet music during the day.
