The Melbourne manager of the Nati OHftl Mortagage and agency Company of New Zealand (Limited) reports of the local markets as followed:— Wheat, 3s 5d to 3sod,witb rather more inquiry at reduoed prices Malting barley, 4s to 4s 4d slightly improved tendency. New Zealand oats,foedings sorts, are sluggish at 3s 4d to 3s 7d .Milling ditto are dull at 3s 7d to 3s Bd. New Zealand oats, under bond, are slow of sale at 5s 9d to 2s lid,

Mr Servico hat received a telegram from the Agent-General in London confirming the news published to-day by Reuters agency regarding the German annexation in New Guinea and the Western Pacific. Mr Murray Smith'adds that th'era is some Ijopo of further negotiations taking pluoe with 'reference to New Guinea, and that te has written to Lord Derby drawing attentioii to the last three resolutions on the subject passed by the Inter-colonial-Convention at Sydney. Mr Service has sent telegrams to all the Colonial Governments inviting them to unite in protesting against the German Government,
