CORRESPONDENCE.
THE CORPORATE PSERVE,
To the Editor,
Sir, —The Land Act Amendment Act, 1882, provides that corporate bodies holding endowments may take advantage of that Act, and hand over to the Land.Board with their district any land or lands they may. hold, for •the- 'purpose, of Jeasing the-same as ; provided tor in that Act,.' Would it, not'-be wise on the part of the' Corpora* tion' : pf Masterton to consider the .desirability or othorwise of placing their Mangaone endowment in the •handß of the Board so ■ that • the ratepayers may obtain sonis direct benefit in theTshape of rentfroua it. I havo no hesitation in saying tliat I believe tho sura.of £SO per annum would.be derived from it. This would at all events'pay interest upon' current overdraft, and enable the ratepayers to got £so,per annum of their rates saved thereby lor some other purpose, say treet; making.
Innv&c,
Job Vile.
