Maugaone .Xl.*i 21,134 1 2180s .201 7 8 Waipakura|lX, 111 155 2 oUOj j 233 5 0 *Add £5 for improvements, The majority of the sections,comprised in lha above Schedules "are situated at Pabiatua in the Mangaone- Block in the Kopuaranga District, about Dreyer's Rock near Dieyerton, and front upon or are adjacent to the main road connecting Masterton and Woodville. Branch roads have been formed thmngh the sections at Dreyer's Rock, Central Mangaone, Hawera, and Pabiatua, at distances respectively from Masterton of nbnut fourteen miles, thirty-one miles, thirty, five miles, and forty miles. The Mangahao sections are within fourteen miles of. the town of Woodville. The Main Trunk Railway from Wellington to Napier is now being constructed to a point about seventeen miles north of Masterton. Sites for railway stations have been selected at several points, The whole of the sections are covered wi'h forest, the principal trees being tawa, rimu, hinau, rata, kahihatea.wnh tolara, in places; the undergrowth is, as a rule, heavy ; the general character cf the soil ts snnd, and in some places is of first-class qualify, the formaiion being limestone, clay marl, sand stone, &o. The country is generally hilly and undulating, but there are large flits as well as broken ground wiihin the area; it is woll-watered, snd, as the climate is also very favorable, the land should, when cleared and brought into cultivation, prove well adapted for pastoral and, to some extent, agricultural purposes, The Kaiwhata Sections 1 to 5 consist of hiali hilly hind, of fair and inferior quality, covered wi'h light bush, mixed scrub, and manuka, with occasional small open patches. Section 1, Block IV., consists of good hilly land, partly cleared and grassed, the balance being covered by light bueh. The means of access are by a partlyformed bridle track from Gladstone, and from the coast by the Kaiwhata Valley. Maps, schedules, and application forms can be obtained at the Lmd Office, Wei* lington, and maps and schedules at the Post Ofticeß, Fentherston, Greytown, Mas'erton, Woodville, Palmerston North.
