A letter was rea'd from Mr Gawitl), asking for permission to transfer lease of a portion of ft.certain town acre from Mr Lang to Mr (J. Heron.

Cr Gapper proposed, and Cr Hessey seconded, that the application be granted.—Carried. Mr A. B. Bunny waited on the Council on behalf of several purchasers of land in the estate of the late Mr Pixon, asking for a right of way to their propeity. ;

The Mayor said the Council would give the question its best consideration. He said, however, there were objectors to the application beingfgranted.

Mr Bunhy said that the right of way had been grant'dd' some years since, and there was Wo foundation for the objections. •

Cr Gapper thought.the question should bn referred to a Committee for consideration, though he himself opposed the application. After considerable discussion, and Mr Bunny had laid at some length the whole facts of the >case before the Council, the Mayor moved a resolution to the eQ'oct that if thMpplicantg coinply with the wishes of the.
