Whatman played aline innings of 20 (not out) and made the hit of the day, olean out of the ground. Sleeman was the only other to get into double figures with 18 to his credit. In-their second essay the married men made a much better stow, as they were not disposed till the score had reached 51. ißitt was , the only one to ge) into double figures with 10, Bapp coining next with 9. Stumps were then, drawn, leaving the single men winners on. the first innings. During the afternoon there were a good number of spectators on; tho ground, inoluding several ladies, all of whom were loud in their praises at the improved appearance of the Park and the Oval,
