The majority of thoVectinns comprised in- the 1 above Schedules aro situated at Pahiatua iu the Mangaoiie Block in tho' Kopuaranga District, about Dreyer's Rock near Dreyerton, and Inmt upon or are adjacent- to the main road connecting Masterton and Woodville, Brand) roads have been formed through the sections at Dr'eyerV "Eock, Central Mangaone, Hawera,. and Pahiatua, at distances respectively from Masterton of.rbout founeen miles, thirty-ono miles, thirty five miles, and forty milna. The Mannahao sections are within fourteen miles of the town of Woodville. The Main Trunk Railway from Wellington to Napier is now being constructed lo a point about seventeen milos north of Masterton, Silos for railway stations have been selected at several points. The whole of the sections are covered with forest, the principal trees being tawa, rimu, htoa'u; rata, kahihatea. with totara, in places; the undergrowth is, as a rule, heavy ; the general character of the soil ts good, and in eome places is of first-clans quality, the formation being limestone, clay marl, sand stone, &c, The country is generally hilly and undulating, but there are large, flits as well as broken ground within the area; it is well-watered, and, as the climate is also very favorable, the land should, when cleared and brought into cultivation, prove well adapted for pastoral and, to some extent, agricultural purposes. Tho Kaiwhata Sections 1 to 5 consist of huh hilly land, of far and inferior quality, covered with light bush, mixed scrub, and manuka, with occasional small open patches. Section 1, Block IV., consists of good hilly land, partly cleared and Etasimd, the balance being covered by liijlit bush. The means of access are by a partlyformed bridle track from Gladstone, nnd from the coast by the Kaiwhata Valley. Maps, schedules, and application forms can be obtained at the Land Office, Wellington, and maps and schedules at the Post Offices, Featherston, Greytown, Masterton, Woodville, Palmcrßton North, Foxton, and Waneanui, and at the various Crown Land Offices throughout the Colony.
