Auckland, Monday. J. Humphreys!, secretary of the Northern Shipping-Company died on Saturday through blood poisoning caused by eating pork, Hiß predecessor died from ut similar cause' a few weeks previously.
A fire this morning destroyed, 'a double shop at Parnell oecupied ty O'Brien, a baker, aud George) a'grocer.
Dunedin, Monday. A youngster the son, of J as.' Allen, Hope Hill, Taieri; returning .from rabbit shooting on Saturday, attempted to fire off the remaining cartridge but it missed fire twice. He'then sat down holdmg the gun in a perpendicular position in order to extract the cartridge which suddenly exploded. The boy received the charge in the left cheek, the bone being broken and an ear carried away, ■'.' '.':
