The Chairman thought it was quite time to begin 'to put the main road in repair, and he thought that they should begin at the Bank and work towards the Post Office. His idea was to begin at one end'and do what they did do well, so as to let the public see that it was the intention of the. Board not to', neglect' their duties. Mr Vickerstaff differed and thought it unadvisable to spend: money over thiswbrk. . - (At this point .five gentlemen were ; talking, at once,- amid -considerable laughter,) It .was decided to clear the draiu where it was blocked and to request ladies not to throw any more garden refuse into it for the future. The Chairman thought that £64 •would be sufficient to do the work that had been under discussion. It was resolved that this sum should be expended, and a discussion ensued as to how the work was to be done. It was decided to leave the consideration of Lincoln road between Brooklyn and Dalefield roads until next meeting. Mr Callister's motion relative to lamps was taken, but it was. not seconded even pro forma, It was moved by Mr Vickerstaff and seconded by Mr Campbell, that the matter be adjourned for twelvemonths, This also lapsed.
