WELLINGTON DIOCESAN SYNOD.
Wednesday November -19, 1884. From the N. Z, Times. Rev T. Fancourt brought up and read the reports of the Standing Committee and the Committee on Trusts, drawn up during the recess by the ordering of the late Synod. The first report mentioned the fact that that all the vacant districts had been supplied with clergy. The report on trusts gave a succinct account of the condition of all trust properties in the Diocese, and recommended ' that, wherever it was possible, that the moneys held in trust for school purposes should be utilised by the erection of smaller schools than those intended by the trust, and not, as at present, funded for accumulation, until sufficient funds
had accrued to establish larger schools, At Porirua, for instance, instead of the intended cottage, a email school for 26 Maori children could be established.
Rev. T. Fancourt brought up and read the report of the trustees of the Wanganui School Estate. The report showed that the school was in excel- < ont condition, and that the attendance* was very large of boarders ai& day scholars.
Mr Zohrab brought up and read the report of the Committee on Jatimates and Appropriations, prepared during the recess, showing how the payments of the sums apportioned by the Synpd had been carried out. ftearly all hafl been fully paid. '4k Moved by Mr Zohrab, seconded by Mr Graham, "That the itf&rfc be printed for the use of the Synfr Carried.
Mr Powles laid on the table the reports of the Porirua Sohool, Papawai, Harrington, and Kaikokiri, Diocesan Board of Trustees, Diocesan Pension Fund, and Endowment Fund Trusts.
Rev. T.'Faticourl; laid on the table the report of the General Church Fund with the statement of liabilities and report of the Maori Mission Fund. Moved by Archdeacon.Stock, seconded' by'. Rev!; W. J.' Western, " That leave be given to introduce a Bill to amend the Diocesan Pension Fund Act, 1880." Carried. Bill read a first time, Moved by Archdeacon Stock, seconded by Rev.-.W. E.Paige, "Thatjhe Synod go into Committee to consicw the scheme for a 'General Pension Fund, remitted to the Diocesan Synod by the General Synod." Carried^ Synod in Committee: Ameiraent moved byßev R. J. Thorpe to clause 1, " That a general pension be established," to the effect' that a General Pension Fund was not' desirable, but that the same result would-be gained if any clergyman from another diocese should be rated for pension purposes, as if he had served in the diocese. The ~ Chairman of Committees reported progress and asked leave to sit again. Moved- by Rev W. E. Paige, seconded by Rev W. T. Western, for leovo to introduce a Bill to amend Act No 4. Notices of motion were givon by the Bev T. Fancourt, Mr Chaileswood, Mr Graham, Mr Powles, Mr Clere, Rev R. J. Thorpe, R. Hunter, and Rev W. E, Paige. Notice was given by Rev W. E. Paige, that he would ask the president concerning a school • building at Whareama.
