The Premier moved as an amendment that the Government be requested to make the best arrangement they can with a view to the acquisition of the lines by the colony, snch arrangement being subject to ratification in Parliament. The Treasurer explained that any arrangements entered into would be provisional and subject to approval of Parliament. .
