Having discovered that the Legislative Council is composed pf J2 Wellington members, i Nelson members, 8 Canterbury members, 11 Otago members, 6 Auckland members, and only 2 Westland members, Mr Seddon is going to ask if, in making future nominations, Government will consider the claims of Westland to increased representation in the Council. Our local contemporary reported yesterday that " tho popularity of Captain Francis with the Masterton Salvation Army Corpifchas found expression in a memorial, signed by over one hundred soldiers, requesting that the order for his transfer from the district be withdrawn A telegram on the Bubject has been forwarded to Major Pollard in advance of the memorial, by Mr James Moore the local secretary," Last evening the secretary at the Army meeting contradicted the statement, As a matter of fact, no memorial having been signed, neither are (here a hundred soldiers in the corps, and furthermore the gallant Captain is and we believe deservedly, unpoDular among his soldiers.
