At the request of Ors Chamberlain, Mack ay, and Meredith, a meeting of the County Council has been convened for Saturday next in order tljat a person may be appointed to measure the Mungapakeha bridge, At the late meeting of the Council Mr .Reese asserted that there was between 5,0()0 and 10,000 feet of timber less in this structure j;han in the one first designed, Now, we believe that we are correct in stating that Mr lleese's allegation re the quantities of timber in the respective bridges is absolutely correct, and that it is not for a moment disputed or denied by Mr King, The absurdity of sending men up to the Whareama to prove a fact that is admitted is the natural outcome of the false position in which the Council has placed itself by its eagerness to enter upon the inquiry demanded by Mr Reese without due deliberation,
