WASTE LANDS BOARD.
A meeting of the Waste Lands Board was held yesterday, Mr W. A. Marchant in the chair. PresentMessrs Thomas Mason, G. Beetharn, Henry Bunny, and W. W. McCardle. The Chairman reported that no land had been sold' sines the last meeting; Mr McCsrdta stated that he had taken the oath required as a commissioner. Messrs Fabian wrote again with reference' to their deferred-payment section in the Kopuranga block. It was resolved to call their attention to clause 9 of the amended Land Aot, 1879, .which requires three years'residence.. Mr Roderick Mats'on applied to be allowed to capitalise his payments on section 1606, Block IX, Wairanga. The application was granted. Mr R. P. Greville, assistant surveyor, reported on section 3, Block XVf, Mangahao. It was agreed to increase tho price of the section 12| per cent above cash price, The Under-Secretary of Crown Lands wrote in answer to a communication from the Board, stating that the department did not think it worth while to reduce the price of sections 4 and 6, Block IV.. Malum. The Chairman read a reply from.the Under-Secretary for Lands, regarding repairs .to the roads in Mangaone Block, damaged py the recent floods, Mr John Davidson wrote asking for permission to reside away from his deferred payment section. The meeting granted his application, Mr John (J. Roope applied for permission to transfer his section 91, Block IX, Pobangina to George Watson. It was resolved to got a report on the matter, and to request the Government to appoint Mr Simpson, the sheep inspector at Rangitikei as ranger. Mr Hales wrote reminding the board of a promise made to him to put up sections 15 Blook VI., Kaiwhata for sale after the completion of the survey. It was resolved to include them in the sales to be held about six weeks hence, and to 'request Mr Drummond to :eporton the value of the land. Tho Chairman reported that he had had an interview with the chairman of the School Commissioners with regard to selling the education reservsa and that he had promised to bring the matter under notice of tho College Governors. He also informed the boad that the Sur-veyor-General did not approve of surveyors being employed as Crown land rangers. The schedule of prices of lands to be disponed of was then taken into consideration. The schedule waeadopted with slight alterations, and it was agreed to. h the date of the Sales at the next meeting of the board. • I ;
