CASTLEPOINT ROAD BOARD.
The adjourned meeting the Board was held on Saturday last. PresentMessrs Mackay (chairman), Meredith, Belliss, Langdon, and Warren.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and the payment of accounts on the 20th September, duly confirmed. The Treasurer reported balance available for future expenditure £787 6s 9d.
The Overseer's report was read and considered, and the following letters were read :
From Mr Liverton asking permission to employ labor to repair the road from the Packspur to Pakowai. From Public Works Office stating that the Government engineer would examine the line of roads for which an application had been made under the Roads and Bridges C'onsti notion Act. From same with copy of debentures. From Alfredtou Road Board requesting tho meeting .jixed to adjust accounts under Section 5 of tho Road Boards Act, 1881 be postponed in the meantime,
From the Rev J, 0. Andrew agreeing to allow the Public the free use of the cutting proposed to be made round the Wainuhmi rocks until further arrangements are made.
From the Colonial Secretary's office stating tint Mr Holmes Warren had been duly gazetted as member for .No. 4 Sub-division.
Only one tender for the 24 chains of roadwork at Manawa was received, and was declined.
Resolved.—That Mr Andrew's reply relative to the right of the public to use the roads above Wainuinui rocks be considered satisfactory, That the members of the Alfredton Road Board be requested to meet the members of this Board on the 18th inst,, re adjustment of accounts, That with the view"of settlement of accounts with the Taueru Road Board under section 5 of the Act, a statement be sent to that Board shewing the amount this Board is prepared to hand over.
That a sum of £45 he granted for repairs on Blairlogie road, and that Mr Morrison be requested to undertake the expenditure. The overseer was directed to examine and report on work done by Mr Meredith on the Uriti road, and also to examine and report upon the Makirikiri road.
Mr Liverton was authorised to expend £8 on repairs on the Pakowai road.
An additional grant of £2 10s was made to the grant of £8 for repairs at Manawa.
The following accounts were paid on the 30th inst,:—wages bills, LIS 9s; salaries, Ll6 18s sd; Lyon <fc Blair, stationery, L 4 18s; office furniture and safe, LI 8 8s 3d. The next meeting was fixed for the 18th inst.
