Stookwell, by The Baroti—Prcabontas, by Glencoe. The Baron, by Irish Birdoatober—Echidna, by Economist; ' Whether for raci"g or general purposes, ORAWFOiD PRIORY'S breeding cannot be excelled, as his pedigree contains the names of most of the greatest stud eucoessei known to fame. Eiddlesworth mt by Emilius, and any of his descendants are highly esteemed, aud justly so, their genuineness being universally admitted. CRAWFORD PRIORY'S, dam Peradventure, through hor sire Adventurer, is a great., granddaughter of Emilius, whilst Maniao, thegg.g.damof Peradventure, was Riddlesworths granddam. Mangauess won the 1000 guinsis, and is the granddam of Apology, winner of the Great St. Leger, better known as "The Parson's Mire," and Agility, another celebrity. Wlion the leading lines of a pedigree are occupied by such sires aa Newminbter—the sire nf Hermit, through the success of his stock styled " The sire of tlnAge"—Advonturer, Orlando, Tonohstone, Stockwell, The Baron, Irish Birdoatoher; and on the dam's side gives Manganese, Moonbeam, Palma, Francesoa, Beeswing, Lady Mary, Splifcvote, Pooahontas, and Echidna, the question to determine is, could there possibly be a grander combination of all that time has over and over aaain proved to be excellent, than the breeding of the subject of this notice. The perusal of CRAWFORD PRIORY'S pedigree calls to mind the performances of bis brother aud sister, Guesswork and Conjecture. The former won '.several good races m the Australian Colonies, and at weight for age as a three-yeai-old m the Champion Race of 18S3, got to the end of 3 miles in the wonderful time of smin. 2Saee., many who were present averring that he actually won, the verdict against him being only a short head in the great Commotion's favor. Conjecture recently at Adelaide ran second for the £2,000 Cup, beating everything opposed to her but Malta. Sbe afterwards at auction realised a thousand guineas, Guesswork going to the fame purchaser for eleven hundred guineas. Peradventure's four foals by Gang Forward were sold for two thousand six hundred and thirty guineas, an average of over six hundred and fifty guineas each which would have been largely increased had not Crawford Priory been withdrawn from competition according to arrangement after the first bid, and it should be remembered that these prices were obtained .in one of the Australian colonies where the money invested in thoroughbred horses oan be counted by hundreds of thousands sterling. Owing to an accident when a yearling, Crawford Priory was not trained. He was used for one season as a sire, and bis stock promise well. As CRAWFORD PRIORY is not likely to be more than one season in the Wairarapa, breeders are invited to take advantage of the presence amongst them of a sire of the very highest class.
