POISON FOR RABBITS.
The following is an effectual poison for rabbits:—Put lOOlbs. of wheat slightly crushed, into a quarter-cask; add lOlbs of ration sugar, dissolve lib of phosphorus in boiling water (use an iron saucepan for this, not a tin vessel), add Bgals of boiling water, taking care to pour both on the wheat together, thus preventing the phosphorus from blazing up j stir the whole for fifteen minutes, cover up closely, and let it stand from twenty to thirty hours; it is then fit for-use. Scatter' the grain about where the rabbits feed, but not close/to the burrows; be careful to keep she : ep|nd other animals off •the, ground for about two weeks ■ afterwards, This willM by thousands,, both'on the ground and in the burrows. ■ In preparing the wheat a quarter cask, fitted;uplike barrel-churn,willbefound of great.advantage for the purpose of mixinglthepoision, keeping it safe from stock; and preserving the fumes of the phosphorus.
