WASTE LANDS BOARD.

o A t Wednesday's meeting of tho Waste Lands Board the members present were Messrs J. W. A, Marchant, Commissioner of down Lands (in the chair), G. Beetham, EL.Bunuy, and T. Mason. The following is a summary of the business transacted:—Schedule No. 142, of land sold sinco last meet' ing of tho Board was read and approved. An application from Mr James McMillan was ordered to stand over. An application from Mr Barmeister, to be allowed to capitalise future payments, was acceded to, An application from Messrs Brodie &, Fry, selectors of deferred payment section No. 8, Block XL, Kopuaranga survey district, to reside away from their section, was answered to the effect that they might do so for four years from date of purchase. The Chief Surveyorreported that damage to the extent ot j£lso had been done to the new roads in the Mangaone Block by the recent floods, and it was resolved that the Government be requested to put the roads in order pending the approaching sale of the sections. The Chairman laid before the Board schedules of land he proposed should be offered for sale at an early date. It was resolved that of the lands to be offered for sale in the Kopuaranga and Mangaone blocks, aud of seven sections in the Pahiatua block, one-third should be offered on the perpetual leasing system, one-third for cash, aud one-third on deferred payments. On the motion of Mr Beetham, it was agreed that the the schedule to be prepared for the sectiqns to be offered on deferred payments should be, subject to the approved of his Excellency, at an advantage of 1\ per cent, on the cash prices. Mr Beetham moved that section 3, block 15, Mangako, be offered for sale on deferred payment at the coming land sale, Mr Mason, B,cpanded the motion,' which called forth a protest on the ,part of Mr Bunny, who said it looked like scheming to single out a special section in that manner, The motion was carried. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Beethan, that the deferred payment sections i and 6, block 4, Mangahao, be i educed in price 25s per acre, and that the Governor be requested to approve of this being done Qn the motion of Mr Beetham, it was resolved to ask the Government to place a sufficient sum of money on the Estimates, to be at the disposal of the Waste Lands Board, for the purpose of falling an area not exceeding five chains in width on any road line that may be formed, or that may be in course of formation, for the purpose of openin? up Crown lands, The meeting adjourned at 1,30 p.m.
