CORRESPONDENCE.

THE WAIPOUA BRIDGES. (To the Editor,) Sir.—l learn froui your issue of the 27th inst., that it is the intention of the County authorities to erect a bridge over the gap made in the main road during the late flood, I presume the new bridge will be the samo width as the existing one, If so I will suggest that a foot bridge be built on one or both sides of the two spans, and the road correspondingly widened. The advantages are obvious, and the additional cost would be small. The northern approach especially has been in a dangerous condition for some time past, the crown of the embankment being at least two yards narrower than the bridge. I am &c,, Subscriber.

MR SUTTON'S PETITION

(To the Editor.)

' Sir.—l see evidence will be taken in this case shortly, aHd in order to ventilate the whole story allow me to suggest that the Committee of the House appointed to hear the case should call oil the following Whareama settlers to give their views on the subject, viz,, Messrs J, S, Handyside, P. A. Sheath,.W. Liverton, Hugh Rellis, Thomas Mackay, A. Walker, Thomas Hitchens, and E, Clifton. The latter is now a sheep inspector in Marlborough. lam certain these gentlemen could give important evidence in this case, and as they are all men of undoubted veracity, there can be no grounds for objection, to their giving evidence.

Yours, (fee,, Sheepfarmer,
