HOUSE PARADE.
Thkre was but a moderate attendanco of horses and spectators at the Pastoral Society's Carterton parade on Saturday last. The following were the entries: The Premier, by Malton—Revoke, was in splendid condition, his beautiful quality and muscular development as usual gaining for him a lot of admiration, which was increased by the knowledge of his' sons'—Consul and Admistrator—successes last season in this district and during their northern tour.
Voltigeur, by King Cole—Fenella, was also in grand form, and much admired, He is a representative of one of the greatest families extant, and
since last year has grown into a handsome horse. With his brepding and shape ho cannot fail to improve our horse stock, King Cole is also the sire of Off Color, who ran such a des perate race with Le Grand for the three mile Champion Race of 1884, and recently won the Randwiok Plate, three miles, weight for age. Which- 1 ever way you look at this horse's tabulated pedigree performers of great merit, noted for staging great 'endurance, fill the spaces, as'is, always the case where Emilius blood' abounds.
Treason, by Traducer—Lady Jane, and Greyhound, by Opawa—Lady Jane, are two sires Mr Freeth has introduced to the notice of Wairarapa breeders. They have both^ performed well on the turf, and we doubt not that they will prove a profitable investment. Greyhound shows a; deal of Riddlesworth and 'Arab blood, both of which strains he inherits through his dam.
The Admiral, by Malton—Spray, also looked well, and is own brother to an old Wairarapa favorite, Southern Chief, but was unfortunately crippled when a youngster, which prevented him from racing. The Maltou blood is alway3 popular, and this son of his claiming grand old Spray for his dam is sure not to be overlooked.
Trickster, by Leolinua—Revoke, is a young aspirant to stud honors, whose breeding is unexceptionable. His, condition not being equal to some of the others, he did not show to thesame advantage. , •"' ■ The American (imported) trotting stallion Oakgrove, being the first of his class to travel in this district, cauio in for a large share of attention. He has plenty of sixe, very docile, and looks like siring useful animals. The pony, Little John, was not behind (he othors in condition, and was praised for his good proportions and activity.
The Parade Committee on the ground were Messrs N. Grace, H, McMaster, H, Braithwaite, and R. JR. Armstrong.
