Notwiths'andiuf; unfavorable weaiher, there was an excellent attendance of members on Saturday evening laat at the annual meeting of the Mastbi'ton and Opaki Jockey Club. Mr Lowes, the President, was in the chair, and conducted the proceedings with his wonted ability. Mt Pition, the Secretary, read 1 the balance sheet for tho past year, which showed receipts i'6ollßs Bd, expenditure £467 6s 2d, leaving a oredit balance uf £1361256 d.

On the motion of the Chairman the balance sheet was adopted) subject tn audit, Meßsrs Puytmi and lurns teiug elected as auditors.

The Chairman expressed a wish to be relieved of the ollice of President dming the eusuing year, having too many other public duties on hum! to do justice to the Club, He moved that Mr James Macara be elected President,

MrAiacara declined, In the present position of the Club ii would be injudicious for Mr Lowes to retire. The other officers of the Club would relieve him of as much work as possible during the ensuing year, and perhaps at the expiration of it Mr Lowes might see his way to continue m office.

Tho chairman said it was not any want of interest 111 the Club, but his other multifarious duties which made him anxious to be relieved. If, however, the Club was desirous for-him to remain in office he would do his best, but ho would prefer to see a new man put in, , MrLuwes was. then elected President unanimously. On the motion of the chairman, Mr Fitton waß> re-elected secretary and treasurer, and on the motion of Mr Hill, Mr A, W, Cava was reelected judge, For the office of starter Mr 0. Vallance was proposed by Mr Hill, Mr T, B. Chamberlain by Mr Parsons, and Mr John Macara by Mr E. I)ixon, A ballot waß taken, which resulted in favor of Mr T, E. Chamberlain, At the suggestion of the chairman Mr C. Vallance"consented to act ad aseisiaut stutter,

Mr Harding was then re elected clerk of the soalea, and Mr W, lorns clerk of the course,

Some diaouesiun took place as to the appointment of a handicapper. It was intimated that Mr B, Kimberley would not act again,

Tbe chairman recommended wiiting to Mr Ebott to ascertain tbe terms on which he would act, hut on the motion of Mr lorns it was decided in tbe first instance lo ascertain directly from Mr Kimberley whether he was willing to act, aud if not to oonvey the thanks of the Club to him for his past services. The election of Stewards was then pro ceeded with, and decided by ballot. A number of members, including Messrs Jameß Maoara, T. Carawell, J. Bannister, and T. H. Hill declined to be nominated. The result of the ballot was the election of Messrs J. lorns, A. Elkins, T. Parsons, B, R, Welch, B, Dixon, A. Stewart and Vennell.

Messrs Hill, Maeara, Carswell, Hesaey, and Vallance were elected as a Ground Committee.

Eight new members were then elected. On tbe motion of Mr Hill the next race meeting was fixed for Boxing Day aud the day following. The secretary's honorarium, on the motion ot Mr Hogg, wbb fixed at £BO for the eu&uing year. On the motion of Mr Hill it was resolved that nominations for Champagne Stakes and Derby for the years 1885 and 1886 be invited.

It was resolved that the President and Secretary wait on Mr Gooual re gate to new course.

The meetiog then adjourned till Saturday next, when tho report of Stewards re programme will be considered.
