CORRESPONDENCE.

A CONTRADICTION.

To the Editor.

Sir,—l have just seen a paragraph in the Daily stating that the Te Ore Ore natives had, through me, requested the Salvation Army to hold services there, • I beg to state that your informant is entirely in error, as no native has ever spoken to me on the subject. I am, &c., Joseph J. Freeth. (To the Editor.) Sir,—lt is now more than a week since I informed the County Engineer that the Alfredton-Ekotahunaroad was blocked up by slips, and impassable for all traffic. Since then nothing has been done, and consequently, the settlers on the road and in Alfredton, are cut off from all communication. Thero is no excuse of want of labor, as I can name more than half a dozen settlers along the road, who would be willing to go to work. This particular road seems to be quite forgotten, and I think a little more attention might be paid to it by the county staff. Considering we pay over three farthings in the pound rate along this road, we may at least expect to see it open as a bridle track. Yours <l'c,, '* P. Vox Redex.
