TO TFE RATEPAYERS OF THE BOROUGH OJ? MASTERTON.' T ADIES AND GENTLEMENHaving been requested to allow myself to be nominated for a seat at the Oouncil, and finding I will have sufficient time at my disposal, I have much pleasure in responding and soliciting your suffrages at the approach- "" -nnual election. If returned I can only e yon that I Bhall endeavor to expend your rates on works of utility, and in other respects I shall strive to promote the prosperity of the Borough by helping, as far as practicable, every useful movement. I am, Ac, 1773 THOS. P. GIRDWOOD. TO THE RATEPAYERS OP THE BOROUGH OF MASTERTON. T ADIES AND GENTLEMEN. -In response to a large and influeiUu requisition I have much pleasure in offering my services as your representative. The following are my views on some leading looal questions: Gas,—lf possible should be supplied by a local 'co-operative consumers company, without Wellington or any other outside Drainage, etc .-A small loan would, I consider, bo necessary for a drainage, and sewage scheme, so that the publio health e protected. The powers of the nitry Inspector should bo increased and a public scavenger appointed. Water Supply.—Masterton is so wel supplied with water that an expensive scheme is unnecessary. For fire prevention the Brigade need encouragement rather than an increased supply of cold water from tho Council. STREET3.-The streets in tho outlying parts of the Borough have not received the attention they deserve. Those on the schedule already published by the Council Bobouoh Overdraft.-This I would endeavor to wipe off and save three to four per cent interest'by raising a moderate loan. If time and opportunity permits I intend to invite you to meet me, and lay my views on these and other questions more fully before you. -" T lam, Ladits and Gentlemen, •'Yours Most Obediently, Itf 3 WALTER RAPP, TO THE BURGESSES OF MASTERTON.
