A MATCH was played at Grey town on Saturday between the Masterton Public School and the boys of Greytown, The home team was captained by Tidy, while Lowes acted in a like capacity for Masterton. Lowes kicked off"for the visitors, and.a series of scrimmages followed.- Gradually the ball, was worked up to the Grey town' twenty-five flag, and the, Masterton lads were only prevented from scoring by the splendid play of Udy,' who several times cleared the line by welljudged kicks inio touch. Before half time was called Grey town had to force down several times in self defence.

On changing ends the play was for some time confined to the centre of the ground. After some very good play T. Thompson secured the ball and succeeded in getting close in front of the home team's goal, On being collared he. passed'to Baumber, who, although closely pressed, cleverly dropped a goal. Greytowri kicked off again, but their opponents' forced them back, and R.
