MOTHER EVE'S TOMB.
Situated in the desert, about a quarter of a mile from the western gate of the city of Jeddah, is an object of interest to Christian and Mussulman alike—the grave of Eve, or as she is called in Arabic, " Sittna Hawwa," the mother of mankind, It is difficult to trace the origin of the legend that allots to Eve this desert tomb as her lasting place, and it is doubtful whether it is of any great antiquity. However this may be, the tomb is regarded with great veneration by the numerous pilgrims who visit Jeddah, and few fail to worship at the shiiue— New York Sun.
