The Wairarapa Daily. THURSDAY, JULY 24, 1884.

TnR new Parliament with tlio names of Sir Julius Vogkl, Ormond, Atkinson, B.olleston, Stout, Eichardson, Macandrew, Imrnacu, and Montgomery on its roll must be an abler .one than its predecessor. We care little whether Ministerial or Opposition members are returned provided that we obtain trustworthy representatives and men of good repute. We are delighted to see many of the loud talkers in the last Parliament have lost their seats. We are a little sorry for Mr Siieehan, but his party will have a better man in his stead in Mr Ballance, but we do not regret the defeat of such men as Stevens, of ftangitikei, Seymour George, "the nephew of my uncle," Ivess, Bracken, M. W. Green, Fish, and Bathgate. They are a grand deliverance! But, alas, we still retain a few more of the same kidney in the shape of Messrs Dargaville, W. G. Smitii, and Holmes. All the Ministers are returned excepting poor Mr Dick, the general utility man of the Cabinet. The Opposition has lost another of its leading members, Mr Hutchison. MiFisher is a decided improvement on the "people's William," and we hail his return with pleasure, We have much to be thankful for I The colony has returned its best men, and the Wairarapa election has been won—won by a neck or a nose, it matters not, so long as it was won.
