The Wairarapa Daily. WEDNESDAY, JULY 23, 1884. THE ELECTION.
The result of the election for Wairarapa North is still uncertain but on the Southern electorate we are pleased to learn that Mr Buchanan has secured his seat, If Messrs Beetham and Buchanan are re-elected we will be thankful however small the majority because we sincerely believe that they can do more to advance the interests of all classes in the district than Messrs McCardle and Bunny, The Catholic backvotes in Masterton yesterday was a serious blow toM r Beetham's friends, Still they must be prepared to accept the fortunes of war. We hope and believe still that Mr Beetham has beaten Mr McCardle, not that we should be ashamed of the latter as a representative of the district, but because we hold that he cannot do as much for the district as Mr Beetham. The latest returns in the North confirm our opinion that Mr G. Beethaji will be re-elected,
