GERMANY AND WESTERN AFRICA.
_ According to a semi-official iq the "North German Gazette," the object of Dr Nnchtigal's mission to the West Coast of Africa is to gather materials for enabling < the Imperial Government to establish a W proper consular representation in those ■ regions, and _ meanwhile to protect and promote the interests of German subjects * there. Drßuclmer, the African traveller, has been attached to Dr Nachtigal. at the latfcer's own request; as also Hcrr Mobias, Becretary to the German Consulate General in London, At the same time the Imperial Government contemplate establishing a permanent naval station in West African waters, and meanwhile the Gunboat Move, left Kiel on the sth April for Disbon, there to take on board the Imperial Commissary and his assistants, and to convey them to their destination, where it will remain to support them in their task.
