FEATHERSTON ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting was held on Saturday. Present-Messrs Donald (in the chair), Mathews, Duddmg, Smith, and HcDougal, Previous minutes read and confirmed. . The Treasurer reported cash in hand as £GS7 12s Cd. Messrs Donald and McDougal were appointed to sign checks. Accounts were passed for payment to the amount of £322. Correspondence—1. From tho Treasurer forwarding £2OO to tho imprest account of Battersea special rate district. 2. Prom the same forwarding £2OO to the imprest account of Kahautara road, 3. From A, McMaster objecting to the Board cutting a tailrace through his land on Kahautara. Resolved—That the consideration of M r McMaster's letter be postponed until Mr WB idwill is able to attend. The trespass fees amounted to 19s, The following tenders were then opened for tho metalling Kahautara roadJos. Strawbridge, £118s; H, Hodge, £ll7s Gd; P. N. Roband, £.1165, A petition was received from Mr Hodge and other settlers in Morrison's Bush, requo3ting permission to run cattle and horses on the roads in Morrison's Bush during the day time. The Board decided that the petition could not he granted.
Complaints having been made of the overloading of drays on tho Lower Valley road, tho Clerk was instructed to have a number of notices printed, warning carriers against carrying any load exceeding four tons across any of the Lower Valley bridges, aud holding them responsible for any damage done by overloading. Proposed by Mr Smith, that the road through Harris's section No 88, on the Wharekaka plan to tho river ho taken under the Public Works Act, seconded by Mr Mathews and carried.
Mr D. Cameron applied to havo a road laid off through the Native Reservo at Pahaua from the Coast road to his homestead block. It was resolved to apply to the Chief Surveyor to get this done, Notice of motion. Mr James Donald gavo notice of motion for the next meeting— That tho resolution passed at tho last meeting re providing refreshments for the Wardens be rescinded, and a fixed sum be allowed each meeting, Mr W. Bidwill applied by letter to have the fence on No 1 line moved back to increase tho width of the road ftff driving purposes. The Engineer was instructed to get the work advertised:
