The Wairarapa Daily. FRIDAY, JUNE 27, 1884. WAIRARAPA CANDIDATES.

Four candidates are now 'before the electors of tho Wairarapa,, two of whom must be accepted and two rejected.. As the interests of both Wairarapa electorates are identical, it will bo necessary, if we are consistent, to elect either Messrs Beedham and Buchanan, or Messrs McCardle and Bunny. At the start tho two former have a decided advantage. 1 ' Three years ago, after a well contested election, they secured the confidence of the electors of the Wairarapa. It must be admitted that 1 they have, both of them, been true to the pledges they f>ave in the year 1881, and it must also be conceded that they aie now as capable and as experienced as they were then, They have not changed, and unless the district has altered and tho political convictions of its settlers have varied very considerably, the re-election of tho old members may be regarded as a certainty, No great question, no issue on which depends the fate of the colony is before the electors, They have to consider men rather than measures. 'There is a confused mass struggling' for place and power, and'from them must be elected some leader who is capable of reducing.chaos to order.. Wo shall awaitVith interest the views of the respective candidates, and if we do not think very much of the chances of Messrs McCardle. and Bunny, we will-give them, as far as we are concerned, "afair field," and treat them with that courtsey to. which they are entitled, as men who represent the views of a considerable section, though

probably not of a majority in the community.
