" There's a woman in there, sir," began Bijah, as his Honor appeared, " thore's a woman in there who has bin a-shoutin' and a-yelliu' and a-hoopin' till we couldn't rest. She's threatened my life, and she threatens your lite, and she's called me over a million names."
" Well, bring her out-bring her out," roplied his Honor, as he pulled oil'his over coat and stood his orersdioes in the corner.
There was screaming and wrestling iu tho corridor, and Bijah brought out something in his armß, It was a woman. Her name was Mary Jane Desire. It seemed that she desired to act as bad as possible.
"I wont I I wont I I wont 11" she screamed, as she was left at the railing,- " Mrs Desird, will you please listen to me?" asked his Honor, "No,sir! no,sir 1" " 1 should like to say a few words to you." " I wont listen—l wont hear a word." " Wont you oblige this coiut?" "No, sir! no, sir I If anybody lays hands ou me I'll seiateh their eyes out!" " I did intsnd to remark that you wire picked up in an intoxicated wuditiou last night, but now I will not." ' "We 1, you neodn't. I wont listen to a word you say." [ " And I was going to add that I should fine you five dollars or sen! you up for SO days-"
" Well, you needn't add," ■ "But, as the case stands," continued bis Honor, "you are at liberty.to go, 'l'd be ashamed to- send a woman with such a tongue as you have t> th 3 Workhouse, They, would have to turn all the other prisoners out,"
" What I what's that ?" she demanded. "Youcan go. I won't even try your case," "Yon wont, Woll you just-will. I'm just as good as any person in Detroit, and I demand to be tried," " Yon can go," "I wont I"
But Bij ih picked her up and carried bor to tho door and dropped heron the sidewalk. She was so mid that shekicked tho hydran, with all her might, and when- tired of this took after a passing doctor and ran him out of Sight, '
