WRECK OF A COOLIE SHIP

A melancholy shipping disaster is ieported from Fiji. The Symra, a large

iron ship, arrived at Suva on the 12th mst.'from Calcutta, having on boari 430 Coolie passengers. When abfc three miles from the land she ran on a coral reef and became a total wreck. Some of the crew proceeded ashore for assistance, but owing to the breakers the steamer Ponguin, which went to the spot, was unable to get near. At last accounts it was feared that the •majoiity of those on board perishpd. On the afternoon of the 13th the Symra had broken up, An extra issued by the Polynesian " Gazette" at Suva on the morning of May 14th states that the Clyde °had just returned from the wreck. Her master, Captain Callaghan, reported that all but three of the Symra's Lascar crew were missing, and that also between GO and 70 of tho coolie immigrants could not he accounted for, and it was feared that all bad perished. Tho vessel had broken in. (wo, and everything washing out of her. Her cargo was a large one, and incluped 300 tons of rice.
