Received June 5, 1.20 a.m.—ln its issue this morning the Daily News publishes an article on the New Guinea annexation question, in the course of which it states that the Government has recently sounded one of the Australian Colonies regarding its readinessto contribute towards the expenses in connection with the proposed establish-, ment of British authority at certain points on the coast of Nmv Guinea. It states, however, tnafc it is not likely that the Australian Colonies will vote money oil such terms as would bo acceptable to the Imperial Government, and it considers that an early exercise of British sovereignity in New Guinea is riot expected.
