CHURCH DISCIPLINE IN SCOTLAND.
Under the heading " Uliurch Discipline in Scotland," the "Pall Mull, Gazette" makes the following most remarkable statement:—We may observe that the practice described might be advantageously brought into play elsewhere. Says the Gazette; At the close of the service in the old church at Arbroath on Sunday morning the Ilev Gordon J. Murray, an assistant minister of the parish, read a judgment of the Kii-k session, to the effect that two ladies, members of the congregation having been summoned to appear before the Kirk session- to answer to the sin and scandal of spreading some infamous falsehoods and malicious letters, were, after proof had. been led, unanimously found guilty of the same, and were suspended from the communion for twelve months from the 12th of March, 1884, and thereafter until they should appear before the Kirk session an) have the said sin and scandal removed. It was further stated that the public intimation of the sentence was by order of the Kirk Bession. It is said that the two ladies whose names and addresses were given in the public intimation read from tho pulpit, deny the charges brought against them, Both were . present throughout the service, and whilst the Kirk session's sentence against 'theiri was being read.
