WASTE LANDS BOARD.
The ordinary fortnightly meeting of the Land Board was held yesterday, when there were present Mr J. VV. A. Merchant, acting commissioner, in the the chair, and Commissioners Bunny and Mason. ,
A schedule of -lands sold since the last meeting, was laid on the table, showing the area sold to have been 3167 a 2r ; l4p, realising £1737 16s. An application was received from E. N. Barraud asking to be allowed to capitalize the payments on his deferred payment section 15,030, Block X,, Kairanga. The Chairman reported that all the necessary conditions had been fulfilled, "The Board deoided that the Chairman should report at next meeting as to the amount to be paid when capitalised. A similar application was received from Mr I). H. Guthrie, owner of section 1587, Block 'IX,, Kalringa; and a similar decision was arrived at by the Board. An application was received from Mr 11. Burrio Asking to be allowed to lease sortiG I 'liifid • south of Oarnarron ■township, -A 4-eport from Mr Dundas, district was read as to tho quality of tljo. land, and it was resolved that the applicant be informed that the lease could not he granted, The Chairman brought before the Boai'd tM,, desirability of taking a piece of land' between section 7, Eketa liuna, and the' nivtive reserve in Crown Land in X,, Mangoone. He stated that it had been originally set apart as a cemetery reserve, but had been found unfitted for that purpose, pieco! of land had been permanently reserved as a oemetery. It was resolved to include the land in the adjoining 'Crown lands when offered for sale'.
An application .was received from Mr W. T, L Travers, on behalf of Mr A. P. Weber, to, be; allowed to pay off the balance of tho purchase money on his deferred payment section 1, Block X 11,,. : langaoue... The application was granted, ■ A memorandum was received from the Under Secretary for Crown Lands, urging tlie. Board to ■ reconsider their decision as to the sale of section 1, Block - XII., - Wairarapa. It was decided to offer the land, for sale at £4 per acre at. an early date, , : . ; The Chairman reported that Hesara Bassrausseit and J, Uopwoocl had not paid their overdue instalments! on their Beotionß 'after 'due .'warning, bad been giren 'them, and; it 1 '-was decided to cancel-their licenses; ..
