A large number of spectators were present. The game was briskly contested throughout. Nelson Had slightly the best of it all through, and eventually won by one try to nil. The run in was secured by Mabin. .

The football match between the Wellington Athletic Club and the East Christchurch was played to-day on the Lancaster Park, and resulted in a. splendid contest, East Christchurch winning by one try, secured by Kesteven. There were 7000 persons present, Eighty footballers attended the dinner given' by the East Christchurch Club to the ZingarTand Athletic teams in the evening,
