THE OTHER SIDE OF HUMANITY.
TO THE EDITOR WAIBARAPA DAILY.
Sir,—We notice that a correspondent who calls himself " Humanity," insinuates that some of the livery stable keepers in Masterton are in the habit of starving their horses. Humanity says, " Cruelty is a sin that cries to God:" Sir, is not slander a greater sin? Why' does Humanity stab m the dark"? Whofe are the horses he refers to 1 There are only three livery stable keepers in Masterton, and his. letter is aimed at one of them. Why does he write anonymously] If he writes the truth, he should not be ashamed to add his name, and he should give the name of him ho attacks, instead of striking a foul blow and leaving the public in the dark. It may be cruel to half feed a horse, but is it not more cruel to assassinate the character of honest tradesmen by shooting them from behind a hedge 1 As stable tocpers we feel agrieved and call on Humanity —if he has the spirit of a man—to substantiate his charges. We are, ita., DIYON (& Jaques. ■
