An unoccupied house of twenty-two rooms, next to tho Gladstone Hotel, Peterborough, was destroyed by fire early this morning. It is evidently the work of an incendiary.

P. W. W. Brooke, employed at the Kaiapoi Woollen Factory, committed suicide by cutting his throat. He had suffered from iU'liealth and low spirits for sonie time.
