TO'ME EDITOR, Sm—Your Pahiatua correspondent, in your. issue of yesterday, makes, amongsc other startling statements, the following curious remark in reference to the maintenance'of tho FortyMile Bush road:—" We fancy that the money granted to maintain tho road goes.to pay the staff. : :At any rate the Engineering charges come to about three times what is charged for maintenance according to their own showing." Tftfldiscover this fact, your "own" must surely either have heen looking at the published balance sheets of the County through several inches ot corn whiskey, or be gifted with the most fertile fancy conceivable; and I challenge him to prove the truth ot his statement..! lam, . ■ E.G.
