A VALUABLE COW.
The Jersey Cow Princess 11, JS'o. 8,046, owned by S. M. Shoemaker, of Baltimore, lias recently completed the largest test of butter for the period of one week that has ever been recorded. The- cow gave birth to a calf late in December lost, and her milk immediately showed signs of superior richness. For three weeks she produced twentysix pounds of butter a week, the record being made under tlm careful supervision of members of Mr Shoemaker's family. For. the fourth week the kitvices of J, V, N. Wills, of Marlboro, K.J,, Iho woll-kuown expert, were secured, and the cow was placed in his charge. Her appetite was stimulated by walking exercise, and slie was milked three times a day, The yield of milk was about twcnty-tlirco quarts in twenty-four hours, and the total amount of well-worked butter, salted one ounce to the pound, which she produced in the week, twenty-seven pounds and ten ounces.§>Tlie facts are certified to under oath.
