The Trades Union Congress, now sitting here, has resolved to send a working'man as delegate to the working men of England, and also to appear at the bar of the House of Commons to appeal'for assistance so as to prevent the influx of .French recidivistes into the Australian colonies.
LONDON, April 26. Received April 28, 0.50 a.m.—The Sydney portion of the cargo of frozen meat ex steamship Lusitunia, has been sold at an average price of 5d per lb. The Government lias had under consideration the joint recommendation of Sir R. E, Egerton, British ConsulGeneral At Cairoi Nuba Pasha, President of the' Egyptian Council of Ministers, and Sir Evelyn Wood, the commander of the Egyptian army, that a. combined force of the British and Egyptian troops should be despatched to the relief of Berber. In .its reply, tho Government has stated that the recommendation cahnot be acted upon at the present time, and that such an expedition cannot be sent into the Soudan for four months from the present date. The debate in the House of commons on the ' contagious Diseases (Animals) Bill was resumed to-day, when the Government agreed to withdraw tlio amendments to the Bill as passed by the House of Lords, and to accept the vote of tho House on tho subject. .
A disastrous five occurred in (he Queens-road to-day, resulting in the total destruction of tlio premises occupied by Mr William Wbitely, whoso stoves in Westbourne-grove where destroyed in a similar manner in November, 1880. The loss now is estimated at £500,000. ' An attempt was made to-day to destroy the barracks at Dublin by an explosion, but the infernal machine which, was intended for the purpuse exploded abortively, and but little damage was done,. Discoveries have, been made of active plotting among the Fenians in Dublin, in which it is believed the projected destruction of the barracks was to have played an important part. Detailed plans for an organised rising, lists of persons interested, and arms were uneattlicd in the garden attached to the house occupied by Patrick Egan. The police effected the arrest of Egan, who. was brought up at the Police Court today and remanded.
