TARATAHI-CARTERTON ROAD BOARD.

TnE above Board met on Saturday last, Present—Messrs Soys, Buchanan, Boot!), Parle, Bunny, Nix,, and Reynolds, The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed the Treasurer reported a credit balance of £149 3s Bd. On the motion ot Mr' Nix it was resolved, That the road proposed to be taken to section 178 from Lincoln road, the whole of the land be taken from section 177, half a chain wide, provided that the owner of 178 agreed to erect the fencing of the road at his own cost. Resolved, That the letter received from ( the Cr.own Lands office respecting a grant for forming road from Wainuioru and Flat Point be acknowledged, and that the Board give due notice of payment as the work proceeded.

The. tender of Mr Mere wood for metalling Richmond road at 28s per chain was accepted and.also that of 0. E. Oliver for metalling Hilton road at 235. It was resolved that Mr Thomas Price be written to giving him notice that the Board will hold him responsible for any damage which he may cause to the road by the haulage of timber logs in junkers, and also that he be required to repair the damage done to the bridge across Eed Creek in Moreton crossing caused by the extraordinary traffic from his mill; also that if he draws any logs along the road on a sledge he will be prosecuted'without further notice. Mr Buchanan moved and Mr Reynolds seconded, that Mr Wolters be-authoris'ed. to receive and collect the rates for the Board*—— On the motion of Mr Buchanan it was resolved that it is the intention of the Board at its noxt, meeting' to. levy a general rate of -one:halfpenny.in the pound payable in _one sum on the 10th day of June.——lt was resolved that the Oliief ; Surveyor be requested to place a Surveyor at the disposal of the' Board for the purpose of taking and laying off the roads through lands, the grants of which are; about to mature.
